The Clinton Presidential Center, an impressive 30-acre complex, sits along the banks of the Arkansas River at the eastern end of Little Rock’s Riverfront Park. Regardless of your politics, you won’t want to leave Little Rock, or Arkansas for that matter without visiting this important site. The Clinton Presidential Library is one of just 14 such libraries nationwide, and is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. A modernist design, the mammoth steel-and-glass structure is a nod to Clinton’s presidency, a “Bridge to the 21st-Century” and sets the (LEED) platinum standard for environmental design.

The museum’s chief exhibit is The Presidential Timeline. Highlights of each year of the Clinton Presidency are recounted on 8 panels that run down the center of the 2nd-floor hall. Each panel also holds a copy of Clinton’s daily schedule for every day of that year. Along the side walls, tucked between soaring bookcases, 14 Policy Alcoves address some of the administration’s many challenges, including the more scandalous affairs of Clinton’s Presidency. The third floor’s exhibits delve into the Clintons’ personal lives and the more ceremonial aspects of life in the White House. Other highlights include the Presidential Limo and full-scale replicas of the Cabinet Room and Oval Office where you can pose for a commemorative photo behind the replica Resolute Desk.

Leave time for a nibble or cocktail at 42 Bar and Table and a stroll around the grounds: the Clinton Presidential Park Bridge and the William E. “Bill” Clark Presidential Park Wetlands. The complex is also home to the Archives Building and the historic Choctaw Station which houses the Clinton Foundation, Clinton Public Policy Institute, and the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service.
