Part of She's Arkansas Heritage Collection, North Little Rock High School, like its counterpart in Little Rock, Central High School, was the scene of desegregation efforts in September 1957. Six students, now known as the North Little Rock Six were met at the door with hostile, white protestors. With no backing at the time from the NAACP, the high school was not desegregated until September 1966. Built in 1928-30, the Art-Deco high school is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
