Riverfront Park
The (Julius Breckling) Riverfront Park in Little Rock’s River Market District stretches across 11 blocks and up and down several terraced levels along the south bank of the Arkansas River. An impressive and family friendly use of the city’s riverfront real estate, Riverfront Park is part of the Arkansas River Trail. Meandering paths, delightful gardens, and lavish landscaping mingle with public art and history displays and plenty of kid-friendly, wet and dry places to play. A railroad bridge turned pedestrian and bicycle catwalk spans the Arkansas River and offers picture-perfect views and a breezy spot to stop and sit a spell.
What to look for? DON’T miss the Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden on the west end of the park (more sculptures are spread throughout the park and the city too!); the 100+ year old Junction Bridge (access via stairs and an elevator); La Petite Roche Plaza, the Little Rock Civil War Marker, and the Riverfront History Pavilion near the Junction Bridge; the kid-friendly Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center at the east end of the park.
The eastern end of the Riverfront Park connects with the William E. “Bill” Clark Presidential Park Wetlands and the Clinton Presidential Bridge at the Clinton Presidential Center.
